Alphonse Capone
Alphonse "Al" Capone was an american gangster in the prohibition era. He Was the leader of the Chicago outfit, which was later known as the "Capones". Alcapone quit school after the sixth grade and started to associate with nitorious gangs. Not to long after Al joined Johnny Torrio's gang. At the start of the 1920's , by invitation Capone was invited by Torrio to come to Chicago and join the gang their. In 1925, Torrio backed down and allowed Al to become the leader of the Chicago outfit. After that the liquor business just kept on growing. It was not long after that the FBI had started to investigate the money that the "Capones" were bringing in, due to there part in prohibition. In 1931, Alphonse was convicted in federal court and was sentenced to six months in jail. Then in June of 1931 Capone was also charged with tax evasion and prohibition charges. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison and was fined $273000. Al served his 11 year sentence in Alcatraz. He was released in 1939 after paying back all fines. Al Capone died in 1947 on palm island with his wife and immediate family there. Even today Al Capone is known as one of the most nitourious gang leaders.
